What size of solar heating system do I need for my pool?

The size of pool solar heating system all depends on the size of your pool and how long you want to swim during the year. For optimum performance and swimming 9 months of the year we recommend matching the square footage of your pool in panels. This is 100% coverage. Now because we live in such a hot climate, systems can also work very well with only 70%-90% coverage.

Are there rebates or tax credits for installing solar pool heaters?

Yes, there are! For any installation of a pool solar heater in Utah there is a 25% or 2,000$ max state tax credit. In St. George there is also an Enbridge 750$ gas rebate. That means on any Pool Solar install you will get 2,750$ back in rebates!

How much does it cost to operate?

One of the biggest advantages of solar pool heating is its very low operating cost. The only ongoing cost is the electricity used by your pool pump, which is usually already running to filter the pool. Solar energy is free, so once the system is installed, it doesn’t cost anything to “fuel” it. This is very efficient when compared to gas heating and heat pumps which can cost over 1,000$ per year.

How can Pool Solar help me during the summer when it is so hot?

Pool Solar is designed to trap the temperature of the ambient air. That means that if you run your system at night the panels can cool your pool down 6-10 degrees. This is very helpful when some pools can get up to 95 degrees during the day!
